What are our products made with?
Candles
Curly Girl's candles are made with a three wax blend of coconut wax, soy wax and beeswax. We do not use wax that contains paraffin. Paraffin wax is derived from petroleum, shale or coal which can contain carcinogens such as benzene and toluene and when burned are easily released into the air. Paraffin can also emit other toxic chemicals such as naphthalene, tri-decane and hexadecane, all of which are chemicals found in diesel exhaust and have been linked to asthma and other respiratory conditions. Paraffin is also non-bio-degradable and non-renewable which is why Curly Girl uses soy wax, coconut wax and beeswax which are eco-friendly waxes. We also strive to use phthalate free fragrance oils in our candles.
Goats Milk Soap
Our soap is made with natural ingredients like goat's milk, coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, olive oil, and babassu oil. It's free from detergents. The bubbles and lather is created from castor oil and coconut oil. Our formula is moisturizing and calming without leaving your skin feeling dry and taught. We use only skin-safe, phthalate free fragrance oils and skin-safe mica powder for added pizzaz. Some of our soaps are topped off with eco-friendly glitter made from corn which dissolves in water.
Goats Milk Hand & Body Lotion
Curly Girl's goats milk lotion is made from scratch using a combination of goats milk, butters and oils. Our lotion is rich, creamy and light-weight which makes it perfect for year round use. Our formulation uses goat's milk, distilled water, shea butter, babassu oil, almond oil, emulsifying wax (binds water and oils), stearic acid (thickening agent), phenonip (formaldehyde free preservative), and skin-safe fragrance oil which is phthalate free.
Body Butters and Scrubs
Our butters and scrubs are hand made using a formulation of rich and creamy butters and oils. For example, our butters are made with shea butter, cocoa butter, babassu oil, almond oil, Vitamin E oil and skin-safe fragrance oil and mica powder. Our scrubs are formulated using shea butter, mango butter, coconut oil, castor oil, emulsifying wax, cetearyl alcohol, SLSa (surfactant), phenonip, skin-safe fragrance oil and mica powder, exfoliants such as pumice or fruit seeds. Some of our scrubs and butters are topped off with a little bio-degradable glitter!
Lip Scrubs and balms
Two simple ingredients make up our lip scrubs - coconut oil and sugar. It is that simple. Don't let the simple formulation fool you. These scrubs will leave your lips feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. Our lip balms are just as simple - coconut oil, beeswax, shea butter, honey and skin-safe fragrance and mica-powder.
